I woke up this morning cold! LOL Really cold! It’s amazing how the weather here in Atlanta did a complete switch on us! It made me start thinking about fall trends and how I am going to switch my style up this fall. In the past, popular clothes, makeup, and hair colors for fall are deep reds, browns, deep golds, and even black. This year I’m seeing a lot of rich colors, greens, purples, reds, oranges, etc. A lot of women are even going the DARK route with hair colors, dark brown or jet black. Fall seems like that time when you “re-invent” yourself and try new things to transfer into the new year. So ladies and gents, I want to hear from you….

Check out up and coming artist, Priscilla Renea’s new video. I first discovered Ms. Renea a while back by her videos on youtube. It’s great to see her go from making video’s in her living room to dropping her debut album “Jukebox”, next month. Don’t sleep on her, girl can REALLY sing! I’m diggn her look in this video, cute and really goes with the song. I see some singers are opting out of the “weave to the floor” uniform and going for shorter cute cuts! Nice!

I was 17, just graduated from high school, and thought I was grown. I was working in a salon as a shampoo assistant so I had the privilege of getting my hair done for free. I don’t know what I was thinking that day, I guess I just wanted something different. I told the stylist to cut my hair all off. We had already cut it the week before, slightly tapered in the back, but I just couldn’t take it. That style was too hard to manage. So we did it, the big cut. The end result was beautiful, I loved it! I felt like a new woman, well new teenager! Later that day my mom came by the salon. DON DON DON! Her face told everything, and it wasn’t happiness. I “forgot” to tell her I was cutting my hair, I really didn’t think about it. Like I said before, I thought I was grown. My mom was so mad, she barely spoke to me for a week (she likes me with long hair). My dad on the other hand, liked it, and said, “hey, it’s just hair”. He’s bald by the way, so he would be one to say that.

My mom eventually got over that cut and thinks its cute, well she had to, it’s been 6 years since that cut, many other cuts, weaves, and more cuts. I’m still short and loving it! My mom and I laugh at this story now, my HaiRazor HairStory: The BIG Cut.

Ebony Magazine does it big with 4 covers for their summer July/August issue. This issue puts the spotlight on 25 Black women who have the highly sought after “It” factor. First Lady Michelle Obama, Alicia Keys, Halle Berry, and Tina Turner are the cover girls for this “It” factor issue.

Lala Does It Better Than Cassie…

The lovely Ms. Lala Vazquez has made the cut, well half anyway! LaLa has decided to join the team of half shaven heads and it’s actually a good look on her! I like it better than Cassie’s cut. She debuted her new cut over Twitter and also tweeted that she donated the cut hair to Lock’s of Love. Well, it’s a good look on you LaLa!

Queen Latifah Covers July Essence

Queen Latifah shows off her new cut on the July cover of Essence magazine. I think it’s a cute look on her. In this issue she talks about her childhood, abuse, and commitment issues.

Of the traumatic experience, Latifah tells that she was violated by a teenage babysitter, saying, “He violated me. I never told anybody. I just buried it as deeply as I could and kept people at an arms length. I never really let a person get too close to me.”

She also admits that, because of the abuse, she’s since struggled with commitment. “I could have been married years ago, but I had a commitment issue.”
