TheHaiRazor Hair Tip: TALK To Your Stylist About Your Hair!

You might see the title of this post and say, “Hmmmm Uhhh Duh, Ayana! That’s what you’re supposed to do!” Yeah, well, talking to your hair stylist about your hair is easier said than done. I have some clients that will tell ALL about their hair and some… wwweeeelllll… it’s like pulling teeth! Then I have other clients that “tell half truths”. You know, those clients who are kitchenticians (clients who do things to their hair at home), mess up their hair, then say “Oh wow, I don’t know how THAT happened!”
Communication with your hair stylist is key. Don’t be afraid, we’re here to help! Let your stylist know EVERYTHING, medical issues, stress, hormonal changes, etc. These types of information can be crucial to your hair health. It will also let your stylist know how to properly care for your hair. So talk, ‘fess up, spill the beans! Cheers to GREAT HAIR!

TheHaiRazor Beauty Tip: Wedding Day Beauty… Be Yourself!

As many of you may know, I’m getting married this October. So I’m in the process of finding different hairstyles and makeup ideas for the big day. On your big day you want to look your best but don’t compromise that by not looking yourself. Too many brides dramatically change themselves in order to have a shock value on their wedding day. I say BE YOURSELF!!! I’m not saying walk down the aisle with no makeup and boring hair. What I am saying is be you but a slightly enhanced you. No need to have the dramatic weave down your butt or crazy taranchula lashes that hit your new husband when you kiss! Consult with your hairstylist and makeup artist to find a style closest to you and be the beautiful YOU walking down that aisle!

TheHaiRazor Hair Tip: Use Oil Sheen To Take Out Those Tracks…

Oil sheen is the best way to take out your bonded (glued) weave. Whether its the can oil sheen or in a clear bottle, the oil helps slip those track right out. All you have to do is spray the sheen to the root area of each track and let it sit for about 5 minutes. After you let it sit, lightly pull and separate the track from the roots of your hair. If there is any residue of glue left on your roots, apply more oil sheen and lightly comb the glue out of your hair. Do not try to take your tracks or left over glue out of your hair by shampooing it. When your hair is wet it becomes more fragile. Pulling and tugging on wet hair can cause breakage and severe hair loss. So in everything, be careful ladies!

TheHaiRazor Hair Tip: Stay Away From Those Stocking Caps!

Stocking caps (weave caps, wig caps) are of the devil! Yeah I said it! LOL But for real, they do no good to your hair. Some people use stocking caps to wrap their hair up at night or to cover their hair before they put on a wig. This hair killer actually dries out your hair and causes breakage. The elastic material in stocking caps pull on your hair and can cause serious hair loss. I’ve had my own hair loss experience as a child from the dreadful stocking cap. It took out my whole hairline! Thankfully my hair grew back! Please ditch the hair killer and wrap your hair with a silk scarf. Silk does wonders by keeping your hair smooth and moisturized.
