We all want it… healthy, shiny, sexy hair! But we fry, dye, and Lord knows what else and still expect healthy hair. Like everything else in life, what you put in is what you get out. Here are a few tips to achieve healthy hair growth:

Healthy Diet: Yep that’s right! You have to eat right! It’s been proven that a healthy diet improves the your hair, skin and nails.
Exercise: Yep, Yep that too! LOL! I know you don’t want to hear it but exercising helps too. Get up and get your blood flowing!
Take your vitamins: A,B,C,D… they all help in some type of way!
Trim, Trim!: Yes, trim those ends ladies! Split ends will continue to split up the hair shaft and cause breakage. Make sure and get a good trim every few months to avoid splitting.
Lighten up on the heat: Try to only use heat in your hair 1-2 times a week, OR not at all. You may be wanting your hair to look right every day, but in the process you’re burning it out!

Those are just a few tips to help your start your year off right! Cheers to healthy hair in 2012!

I received the “Hello Classic With A Twist” box to try out. Inside the box contained two polishes, Whitney (a beigey color) and Nicole (a shimmery red), Julep Facial For Hands Glycolic Scrub, sample packets of the Age Defying Hand Brightener and SPF 30 Hand Cream, and a glitter pot (for added shimmer to your nails). I really liked the polish but my favorite thing out of the whole package was the Glycolic Scrub! MAN, that scrub has your hands feeling baby soft, which is especially good for me because my hands are always in water and they can get rough!

Now lets go on to the pros and cons of the Julep polishes!

Pros:

The polish is thick and consistent.
Bright, vibrant colors!
Dries quick!
Developed without carcinogens such as formaldehyde or formaldehyde resin, toluene and DBP.

Cons:

Small bottles
My “Whitney” nail color dried out a bit.
$14 price tag for polish if you’re not a part of the Maven program. BUT that’s why the Maven program is a plus!

TheHaiRazor Hair Tip: Cherish Your Hair Tools

On our journey to beautiful, healthy hair, we tend to focus on just our hair and not the tools we use for it. We have the nicest brushes, combs, flat irons, etc, but the brush is full of hair, the comb has teeth missing, and the flat iron has product build up all over it. You may never think about it, but you’re causing more harm to your hair by not taking care of your precious hair tools.

Here are some quick tips on how to clean and store your hair tools:

Wash your combs and brushes! Ok you might say DUH to this tip but some people don’t clean their combs and brushes. It’s really gross! Once or twice a week, take a mild soap and properly clean your combs and brushes. You don’t want to use a dirty comb on clean hair!
Store your brushes face down in a drawer. This way, dust or whatever else is in the air, won’t land on your bristles.
Wipe off your flat irons and blow dryers. Over time, hair products can gunk up on these tools. You can use rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth to remove the grease build up. Oh and make sure it’s off and DON’T USE WATER!
Don’t let your friends use your stuff! Real talk, you don’t know their hair regimen.

Mission Organize: Set Your Year Up RIGHT!

Hey HaiRazor Fam! I hope everyone’s year has started off great! I’ve been a little MIA for the past few days but trust, it’s all for the best. In efforts to set our year up right, my husband and I went on a major cleaning spree. Basically, everything that wasn’t being used had to go! I also did some decluttering at the salon. It’s amazing how many papers/stuff you can accumulate over time! Well now we’re all done cleaning and I feel like our year is set!

Here are some quick tips on how to declutter your space:

Make Lists. In each room of your house, make a list of what needs to be cleaned up. This will help you stay on track of your cleaning.
Attack each room one at a time. By doing so you won’t feel so overwhelmed by how much you have to clean. It’s ok if it even takes a few days to go through each room.
If you don’t need it, throw it away! If there is no purpose for that piece of paper, beanie baby, Christmas card from ’05, or whatever is taking up dead space, throw it out!
Keep it simple. This kind of goes with #3. Once you’ve thrown away all that mess, let your space breathe. A clear space equals a clear mind.
Stay focused but have fun! My husband I and made cleaning out fun. We found random memories, laughed at them, but stayed focused on our goal of cleaning out. It only took us one day to reorganize our whole house.
