TheHaiRazor Review: Julep Maven Program + Discount!

Recently I was presented with the opportunity to check out nail polish brand, Julep’s new Maven program. Now let’s get to this review!

I received the “Hello Classic With A Twist” box to try out. Inside the box contained two polishes, Whitney (a beigey color) and Nicole (a shimmery red), Julep Facial For Hands Glycolic Scrub, sample packets of the Age Defying Hand Brightener and SPF 30 Hand Cream, and a glitter pot (for added shimmer to your nails). I really liked the polish but my favorite thing out of the whole package was the Glycolic Scrub! MAN, that scrub has your hands feeling baby soft, which is especially good for me because my hands are always in water and they can get rough!

Now lets go on to the pros and cons of the Julep polishes!

Pros:

The polish is thick and consistent.
Bright, vibrant colors!
Dries quick!
Developed without carcinogens such as formaldehyde or formaldehyde resin, toluene and DBP.

Cons:

Small bottles
My “Whitney” nail color dried out a bit.
$14 price tag for polish if you’re not a part of the Maven program. BUT that’s why the Maven program is a plus!

In a nutshell, the Julep Maven program a great deal, especially if you’re a polish lover!

Mission Organize: Set Your Year Up RIGHT!

Hey HaiRazor Fam! I hope everyone’s year has started off great! I’ve been a little MIA for the past few days but trust, it’s all for the best. In efforts to set our year up right, my husband and I went on a major cleaning spree. Basically, everything that wasn’t being used had to go! I also did some decluttering at the salon. It’s amazing how many papers/stuff you can accumulate over time! Well now we’re all done cleaning and I feel like our year is set!

Here are some quick tips on how to declutter your space:

Make Lists. In each room of your house, make a list of what needs to be cleaned up. This will help you stay on track of your cleaning.
Attack each room one at a time. By doing so you won’t feel so overwhelmed by how much you have to clean. It’s ok if it even takes a few days to go through each room.
If you don’t need it, throw it away! If there is no purpose for that piece of paper, beanie baby, Christmas card from ’05, or whatever is taking up dead space, throw it out!
Keep it simple. This kind of goes with #3. Once you’ve thrown away all that mess, let your space breathe. A clear space equals a clear mind.
Stay focused but have fun! My husband I and made cleaning out fun. We found random memories, laughed at them, but stayed focused on our goal of cleaning out. It only took us one day to reorganize our whole house.

You ever wonder why your hair may feel dry or the ends break off during the cold months? Well, it may be the type of coat you’re wearing. Certain materials, like wool, can snag the ends of your hair and cause breakage.

Now, before you get rid of your favorite coats, here are some tips to protect your hair:

Put your hair up. You can loosely clip your hair up while out. When you take your coat off, let that hair flow!
Scarves! Allow your scarf to overlap your collar, preferably a silk scarf.
Wear a hat. Toss your hair up in a cute hat and go! The hat can also protect your hair from the cold air.

I LOVE loose curls/waves, love them! They are a great look for casual holiday hangouts or elaborate elegant Christmas parties. This style can easily be achieved by rollers, big barrel curling iron, or even a flat iron. For more BIG sexy hair rollers are great. For less volume the barrel iron or flat iron is your best bet. Buuurrrr it’s cold out there! It’s that season again, Winter! The greatest season ever! (Insert sarcasm here, LOL.) Here are a few hair tips to help you and your hair during these winter months:

Keep the hot stuff to a minimum! Avoid using curling irons or blow dryers a lot. Since it’s already dry outside, you don’t want to dry your hair out even more with excessive heat use.
Wrap it up! Wear scarves and hats to protect your hair from the harsh winter winds. Avoid wool or cotton scarves and hats though, those materials can dry out and pull on your hair.
Watch your collars! Be mindful of those wool and cotton collars on your winter coats. The materials can pull on your hair and cause breakage and hair loss to your nape area. Try using silk, satin, or pashmina scarves to cover your collars and protect your hair.
Condition it up! Treat your hair weekly with a good moisturizing conditioner to bring back the moisture to your hair. The cold weather can drain your hair, making it feel dry and brittle.
Love cold water. Once you condition your hair, rinse the conditioner out with cool water to lock the moisture in and give your hair extra shine.

FOTD: My First Attempt At The Red Lip

For the longest I HATED red lipstick. I mean HATED IT! LOL I thought it was for old ladies with no style. I guess it was because of who I saw around me, the failed attempts of red lipstick on many girls trying to go with the trend. I’ve since changed that hate into a strong like of the red lip, especially since I see so many beauty bloggers, makeup artist, and celebs rocking a mean one! So two weeks ago I finally decided to step out of my lipstick box and try the red lip on myself.

Initially I thought about picking up the “holy grail” of red lipstick’s, MAC’s Ruby Woo. But then I thought, hmmmm let me start off “cheap” in case I’m not digging this red lip. I decided to pick up NYC’s 308 Retro Red. At first I wanted to wait and get a good liner to play with, however I was a little excited and just went for it. First, I applied a little lip balm followed by a little concealer ( a trick I saw on YouTube lol). I then lined my lip with the Retro Red then filled it in.

I think I did pretty good for a first try, however next time I gotta get some more color in the corners of my lips.
