TheHaiRazor’s Tips To Promote Healthy Hair Growth

We all want it… healthy, shiny, sexy hair! But we fry, dye, and Lord knows what else and still expect healthy hair. Like everything else in life, what you put in is what you get out. Here are a few tips to achieve healthy hair growth:

  1. Healthy Diet: Yep that’s right! You have to eat right! It’s been proven that a healthy diet improves the your hair, skin and nails.
  2. Exercise: Yep, Yep that too! LOL! I know you don’t want to hear it but exercising helps too. Get up and get your blood flowing!
  3. Take your vitamins: A,B,C,D… they all help in some type of way! :-)
  4. Trim, Trim!: Yes, trim those ends ladies! Split ends will continue to split up the hair shaft and cause breakage. Make sure and get a good trim every few months to avoid splitting.
  5. Lighten up on the heat: Try to only use heat in your hair 1-2 times a week, OR not at all. You may be wanting your hair to look right every day, but in the process you’re burning it out!

Those are just a few tips to help your start your year off right! Cheers to healthy hair in 2012!

TheHaiRazor Hair Tip: Cherish Your Hair Tools

On our journey to beautiful, healthy hair, we tend to focus on just our hair and not the tools we use for it. We have the nicest brushes, combs, flat irons, etc, but the brush is full of hair, the comb has teeth missing, and the flat iron has product build up all over it. You may never think about it, but you’re causing more harm to your hair by not taking care of your precious hair tools.

Here are some quick tips on how to clean and store your hair tools:

  1. Wash your combs and brushes! Ok you might say DUH to this tip but some people don’t clean their combs and brushes. It’s really gross! Once or twice a week, take a mild soap and properly clean your combs and brushes. You don’t want to use a dirty comb on clean hair!
  2. Store your brushes face down in a drawer. This way, dust or whatever else is in the air, won’t land on your bristles.
  3. Wipe off your flat irons and blow dryers. Over time, hair products can gunk up on these tools. You can use rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth to remove the grease build up. Oh and make sure it’s off and DON’T USE WATER!
  4. Don’t let your friends use your stuff! Real talk, you don’t know their hair regimen.

Hope these tips help! Let’s treat our hair right!

TheHaiRazor Hair Tip: Watch That Collar!

You ever wonder why your hair may feel dry or the ends break off during the cold months? Well, it may be the type of coat you’re wearing. Certain materials, like wool, can snag the ends of your hair and cause breakage.

Now, before you get rid of your favorite coats, here are some tips to protect your hair:

  • Put your hair up. You can loosely clip your hair up while out. When you take your coat off, let that hair flow!
  • Scarves! Allow your scarf to overlap your collar, preferably a silk scarf.
  • Wear a hat. Toss your hair up in a cute hat and go! The hat can also protect your hair from the cold air.

TheHaiRazor Winter Hair Tips!

Buuurrrr it’s cold out there! It’s that season again, Winter! The greatest season ever! (Insert sarcasm here, LOL.)  Here are a few hair tips to help you and your hair during these winter months:

  1. Keep the hot stuff to a minimum! Avoid using curling irons or blow dryers a lot. Since it’s already dry outside, you don’t want to dry your hair out even more with excessive heat use.
  2. Wrap it up! Wear scarves and hats to protect your hair from the harsh winter winds. Avoid wool or cotton scarves and hats though, those materials can dry out and pull on your hair.
  3. Watch your collars! Be mindful of those wool and cotton collars on your winter coats. The materials can pull on your hair and cause breakage and hair loss to your nape area. Try using silk, satin, or pashmina scarves to cover your collars and protect your hair.
  4. Condition it up! Treat your hair weekly with a good moisturizing conditioner to bring back the moisture to your hair. The cold weather can drain your hair, making it feel dry and brittle.
  5. Love cold water. Once you condition your hair, rinse the conditioner out with cool water to lock the moisture in and give your hair extra shine.
