TheHaiRazor Hair Tip: Cherish Your Hair Tools

On our journey to beautiful, healthy hair, we tend to focus on just our hair and not the tools we use for it. We have the nicest brushes, combs, flat irons, etc, but the brush is full of hair, the comb has teeth missing, and the flat iron has product build up all over it. You may never think about it, but you’re causing more harm to your hair by not taking care of your precious hair tools.

Here are some quick tips on how to clean and store your hair tools:

Wash your combs and brushes! Ok you might say DUH to this tip but some people don’t clean their combs and brushes. It’s really gross! Once or twice a week, take a mild soap and properly clean your combs and brushes. You don’t want to use a dirty comb on clean hair!
Store your brushes face down in a drawer. This way, dust or whatever else is in the air, won’t land on your bristles.
Wipe off your flat irons and blow dryers. Over time, hair products can gunk up on these tools. You can use rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth to remove the grease build up. Oh and make sure it’s off and DON’T USE WATER!
Don’t let your friends use your stuff! Real talk, you don’t know their hair regimen.

THR Shops: Target Haul – e.l.f & N.Y.C

I’ve heard about e.l.f cosmetics for some time now but was never able to find the products I wanted to try out at my local Target stores. On my recent trip, however, I hit the jackpot! I was able to pick up a few goodies. I also picked up a great polish by N.Y.C. Check them out!

I saw on a fellow bloggers twitter that these tweezers are really good, especially for the price. They were only $1!

My lashes are already curly but I wanted to get an eyelash curler anyway. These were $3.

I wanted to try e.l.f’s makeup brushes so I picked up the all over face brush to start. It was $3!

e.l.f’s blushes are only $3, I got this one to try out first.

This is where my e.l.f haul started! They had a great holiday display with an assortment of color palettes. I got this 144 piece palette for $15!

I’m Cheating On MAC With Maybelline Fit Me!

For some time now I’ve been wanting to try a new foundation. For about 10 years, I’ve been a MAC foundation girl, NW45 Studio Fix powder to be exact. Recently I saw the fabulous new Maybelline Fit Me commercial with Jessica White. I thought to myself, hmmm Jessica is around my complexion and it fits her so maybe I should try that foundation! My second Fit Me sighting was on beauty blogger Eileen’s site, Miss Whoever You Are. Eileen wears MAC’s NW45 as well so I was like ok I’m sold now, I’ll try it!

I went to Walmart and I got the whole line except for the powder (and Bronzer, may get it later). Walmart had two powders left but one was cracked and one was already opened. I then ran over to a nearby Walgreens and they had the powder. My collection was complete! The Maybelline Fit Me Collection comes with (each sold separately):

Trying New Products… JOICO

I ran out today to my local CosmoProf ( beauty supply for beauty professionals) to pick up some things for the salon. I was especially excited about this trip because I was on the hunt to find some new products for my clients. The products I use now are cool, but they weren’t giving me what I need. This cold weather has been pretty harsh on my clients hair so I was looking for some products to protect, moisturize and reconstruct their hair even more.

I decided to purchase some products from the Joico product line. Joico is well known for their extensive line of K-Pak products. They also have great products for daily use, color treated hair, and moisture control. The four products that I picked up were:

Joico K-Pak Clarify Chelating Shampoo
Joico K-Pak Reconstruct Deep Penetrating Reconstructor
Joico Daily Care Leave In Detangler
Joico Silk Results Thermal Smoother Styling Spray

I picked up the smaller bottles because I’m just trying them out. If I like them, I’m definitely gonna load up! There will also be a review on each product that I got. Also if there are any Joico users out there, let me know what you think about their products!

Our girl RiRi has officially joined the long list of celebs with a signature fragrance to their names. Introducing “Reb’l Fleur”, a fresh fragrance featuring floral notes of tuberose, violet, and hibiscus, with a splash of coconut water. The perfume is set to drop February 2011, however there have been several sightings at select Macy’s around the country.
